PLAYS

I wanted to blog a bit about plays in Cardston. It is a plus to living here, we have really amazing plays and talent at our little theatre downtown. There are also community theatre shows. My kids have had the opportunity to be in a few shows each now. They also have junior theatre academy shows throughout the school year.
A couple years ago, the summer theatre group performed "Joseph and the amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". The cast was amazing, coming from all over, and Ben and Tessa got to be 2 of the kids in the show. They had the best time! It was a lot of work, and a lot of singing. We sure memorized the soundtrack!!! I must have taken Ayden to see the play about 6 times. We loved it!Tess has been a monarch butterfly, snake, leaf, and a schoolgirl.
Ben has been a prince, an orphan, a pickpocket, a schoolboy, a pal, a thug, a paperboy, and a rat. This next year for junior high, he will be "Augustus Gloop"...he will have to gain a few for that one!I am amazed by my kids' abilities to get on stage and even just say ONE LINE. I remember shaking like a leaf just in a play audition as a child! I couldn't do it. I think maybe I was a tree or something once...but WAY to shy to ever say anything. I used to wish I could, but not meant to be.
Anyhow, we have been having tons of fun going to their little shows and seeing them SHINE...here are a few pics

A Bit About AYDEN

I suppose it's Ayden's turn to be featured here.  Ayden is a scientist/comedian.  He LOVES science...science experiments, weather, rocks, anything.  He has a great rock collection which he chats about with grandpa Baker once a week.  He loves to study bugs, and read science books.  Also, he's always been a joker.  He has a great sense of humor.  Here are a few pics of Ayden from "photo booth" ...he has had a great time on this, and probably taken 500 pics of himself...enjoy!

June 12 2008 Ben

Last night Ben had his year-end singing recital.  He takes from an amazing teacher who has so many students, that her recitals take 2.5 hours!  Ben was close to the end, so it was a long wait.  But well worth it!  He has done so well this year, and the most important thing is that it's something he really enjoys.  Check out his song "Little Irish Girl" ...

Ben turned 13 in May...and the photo on the right shows him in "Tom Sawyer" in April...great stuff!

June 7th

This morning Pete and Tessa ran the 5k fun-run.
Tessa did so great, she got first place for the 10-12 year old division!  Then, she also got 3rd overall place for women.  And it's not like there were only 3 girls running...haha.  So, we are very proud of her...I don't think she got her running abilities from me!
