human pincushion

well, today was prolo #6. dr. Galbraith believes i have had this chronic problem for quite awhile...which is why it's taking maybe a couple treatments longer than some.

i saw some progress last month.
- i don't really wake up sore anymore. what a relief!
- i can put on my pants in the morning and lift my legs without pain. yay!
- i can feel my body getting stronger every time i do pilates. this is thanks to the stabilization happening.
- my SI joints aren't popping much anymore.
- i feel a bit more stamina at work. i am not ready to go completely painkiller-free...but maybe soon.

so yeah, things are happening! it is still normal to have some down/bad days. and i def had a few of those last month. they are frustrating and you start to wonder if this is going to work- or stop.
i really do appreciate when people ask how i'm doing. when someone is in chronic pain, it is hard to tell because on the outside they look FINE. and i've been very good about faking it! at least I think so. hahaha.

anywho- the doc and i think things will progress. he says i will be running marathons soon- but honestly i have no desire to run. hahaha! i WOULD love to get back into intense exercise at some point. pilates has been great for now! i really enjoy it.

sooo...that is the update.
and now it's halloween and i'm laying in bed. the treatment was horrible. note to self- ingest major painkillers BEFORE the treatment next time! DUH- i usually DO...but didn't this time. torture.

young women's projects...

some activities are more involved than others. i LOVE young women's. love it! however, yesterday after baking 9 dozen cupcakes...i have to admit, i was not loving it. the activity turned out okay though- and it probably made a few people smile...because the girls dressed up a bit before they delivered them...

fall

I love fall. love the coolness. love the colors. love the smells. love Halloween.
fall is going fast...
sometimes i am accused of being too busy. i don't think i'm much busier than anyone else. YES, i work outside the home. many women do. YES, i have hobbies that take time. YES, i have 3 kids and they keep me running. but really- i dont' think i'm any busier than anyone else. this is just the way it is at this time in my life. can i cut something out? not really.

the other day we had our pictures taken by Annie. it was a wonderful day outside, and a wonderful location. i hope they turn out!
thanksgiving was good. we went to Leth and the Wright's. it was noisy. the food was good. it was Pete's bday, so we had pie AND bday cake. he is old!
right now Ayden is working on "the hunger games" series. the movie is coming out soon too.
ben now has his license.
tessa is working at the library.
and how's that for an update!

Torture #5

This once a month needle thing is making me realize how quickly the months go!! it's already the 5th prolotherapy treatment...and i feel like they're quite often.
i don't feel like i made a lot of progress last month. nothing is worse...and overall, it is much better. BUT i do still HOPE for the day when i am pain free.
My doctor wants to do a scan next week to check for a leg length discrepancy. IF i do have one, nobody out of all the health care professionals i have seen- has noticed it thus far. we shall see.
It is likely my fault i haven't progressed this month. I went on a LONG car trip which is not good. It wasn't horrible, but it didn't do much to help. Then i was kind of out of the "groove" when i got back...and didn't take care of myself like i should.
SOOO back to pilates and biking...the stationary bike seems good...i have recently tried it again...it doesn't seem to jostle my pelvis. which is the whole problem...instability.
each time i go get the shots, i feel a bit sorry for myself. it HURTS like crazy. as he is jabbing me like a pincushion, i am gripping the table and squeezing my eyes shut and trying to take long deep breaths. NOT fun.
tonight Pete made a great steak dinner- and told me not to worry about anything. thank goodness i have a thoughtful understanding husband.
i only blog about it, so i can kind of keep track of how things are going- and the process. plus, since all i can do the day of- is lay on my bed- it gives me something to do...

Ayden is 11!

on the 26th, Ayden turned 11. yup, 4 days after Tessa's bday. whew! i cannot believe it's been 11 years. am i required to write that on every birthday? nope- it's just how i feel. Ayden is such a funny, smart kid. love you Ayden!

Ayden had a party a few days after...he and his pals made their own pizzas...they loved doing it! even if it was a bit tricky spreading the dough in the pans...
Jalen, Dustin, Taylor, Ayden
We took Ayd to Leth on his bday to choose his present. It was a new ripstick!!! yes, he had a ripstick...but apparently- this one was better.

Tessa is 14!

This beauty-queen is 14! WOW...how time flies. SO proud of her. She is such a wonderful girl and so smart- love you Tessa!

Later in the day we took Tess to Leth to eat out...she didn't want a party, so that was the plan...
What did she get? Clothes. Body Spray. Makeup. what else do you need?!!

the Delorian...

remember back to the future?? well, for the cardston high school cardboard races- Ben's group built a "copy" of the Delorian car...
turned out pretty good! can't imagine 6 people squeezing in however...
