tessa took these...

aftermath...

well, it's monday morning.  we are waiting to hear from insurance, vehicle AND home.  it's okay though.  i'd feel guilty getting first dibs when there are lots of homes with bigger problems.  holes in the roof, windows broken all the way through.  it's only right that they get help first.

i keep going out to water flowers or garden...and then stop.  the garden might mostly be okay, we will see what sticks.  the flowers i think are gone for the year...

not sure what will happen with our van.  i believe it will be written off, giving us a payout...and we will have to shop for a new vehicle.  right away.  we have borrowed Wright's truck, which is great- but i am not sure i would trust it for long drives...or the car.  blech.

anyhow, we've been through this before- only much worse.  at least we don't have to leave our home.  soooo everything is dealable.  a pain, but we can do it.

major major bummer

these were actually tornado clouds...i have a better shot where you can see it better...i'll get that later...

the power of tennis ball sized ice falling from the sky.  there are huge holes on our lawn where it hit, and then it would bounce meters in the air...freakiest thing we've ever seen.  and so so so much of it...not just a few here and there...it was insane.

i would love to complain, trust me, but everyone has the same issues right now...

even if the windows weren't cracked, the casings were bent or have holes in them

glad i took pics of my flowers yesterday...won't see those again.

just one section of the shredded shingles.  wood shingles looked like they were exploding as the ice hit.

just can't' believe just how DEEP and big some of the dents our.  our car got a little bit too, before pete came back and ran it into the garage.

halleluja

it came.  it finally came.
Ayden has been saving up for this longboard...was anxiously wanting to order it.  we ordered it to Babb, since he could save about 60.00 in shipping etc.  so we went down to Babb and picked it up today.  Babb was quite the strange experience.  no clue it would be delivered to "Ann's"...so we had to drive around and ask who and where Ann was.  weird.  i felt like i was in Dog River.

thunder and lightning

the other night we had a GREAT thunderstorm.  the thunder was the loudest, and it made us all scream at the top of our lungs!  so fun...

Victim? Survivor? Hero?

What story have you been telling yourself and others about you and your life?  How have you been casting yourself?  As the story of your life unfolds, each time you tell someone how you are doing or what you are doing, do you emerge as victim, survivor, or hero?

How should we define the three?

Victims-   those who are downtrodden and are always under the influence of someone or some problem or force.  one can be a victim even of time and "busyness"

Survivors-   those who seek constantly to find a way just to stay afloat amid unending difficulties, challenges, and disasters.

Heroes-   those who have discovered the strength, skills, and understanding to enjoy a rich, full life- despite horrific problems they never thought they would be battling and that would defeat a lesser person.  A hero is also keep to help others by sharing what they have discovered.

Imagine if a movie director approached you and said, "I would like to make a movie of your life.  You can tell the story any way you would like.  It's your story to tell.  We just need to know if you would like to be cast as a victim, a survivor, or a hero"  What would you say?

fishing with gramps

k, the highlight of the week by FAR was fishing at Police Lake with grandpa Baker!  it may even be the highlight of the whole summer, the way things are going.  haa!
so- everyone went but me- i was working.  i was okay with that.  i enjoy fishing, so maybe i'll go next time.  anyhow- they caught a grand total of 40 fish!!!!!  Ayden won the most with 15!!
none of them were quite 50 cm's though, so we didn't eat trout for supper.
EVERYONE had good luck!
the weather was great, the fishing was great, a good summer day!

note the pink fishing rod- love it!
