later in the day we had a suprise party for Ben...just a few family members...he didn't want friends...they popped over. Lynnae and Dan kindly brought over this balloon (which we need to give back)...because they heard that the one i bought for Ben flew away.
right before the partay...it started POURING and i mean pouring!!!!! since we were doing "weiners of Cardston"...we HAD to bbque...so Pete used this umbrella to do the job! very funny.
i really should be using a scanner...taking pictures of old pictures just doesn't do the trick...for example here pete's head looks really...martian-like...but it's cause i am bending the paper.

we sort of missed our anni this year...but it's okay...we had a trip to Jasper so we will count that!

Carol

Carol Ann Murray...passed away a week ago. She was 55...and quite old for a down's syndrome person. She lived a good long healthy and happy life!!!

Her funeral was today...I saw this picture in the program and loved it! She looks like a little doll here...and sitting next to what is our piano now.

I can't even imagine the reunion between Carol, her mom, her dad (who passed away when she was 6) and her sister...who passed away a few years ago. my mom is the only sister left.

Anyhow, I loved growing up with Carol. it gave me a better understanding of handicapped people...gave me more tolerance. she made me laugh...she made me do the hokey pokey...and she made us all do kung foo. hahahahah!!! good times! She was a loved girl.

wednesday

wed...we got home from Jasper in time for pete to run off and coach soccer! afterwards, we hung out and the kids were really excited to see him! he was exhausted...and handed out his gifts...

k...WHEW

This week...was one of THOSE weeks. Started off monday...went to Calgary. ALONE. i do NOT drive in Calgary alone. however, it was just to IKEA...so i survived...with a gps. yup, i'm just-that-dumb. anywho...as i was coming out of IKEA (which by the way was the highlight of my week and i got some new fabric) Pete was dropped off at the exact moment i got to the van. amazing timing! then we headed to Jasper...forgetting how long it took us last time. UGH...it took 5 hours from Calgary! i thought i might die. for 2 reasons...my back had been having some serious spasm issues...AND...our van is having some serious ball bearing issues. basically...we are having the same issues with stabalization. nice. i don't know how we made it there...but we did. and pete driving all willy-nilly and without sleep! yeesh.

SMOCK WEEK

this week was smock week. like the pattern?

on being husbandless

well, tomorow will end my reign as queen. wednesday will TOTALLY end it for the kids. so here are my thoughts...

-it has been trickier than some situations, because i have not been able to be in touch with Pete much. unable to ask him questions...consult...decide. i have had to make decisions all on my own. and i DID it...whether he likes it or not. :o)

-i have begun to love my bedtime routine of reading myself to sleep in bed. with no disturbances. yes, it is selfish. but i have liked it!

-one parent takes ALL the problems that are dished out and all the complaints. there is no chance to say "ask your dad" or "go tell dad" or "i'm going to tell dad" ...yeah, stuff like that. so...you have to be more of the bad guy when you're alone.

-the most important thing i have learned is that i don't ever want to do this on a regular basis!!! i miss having someone to vent to, talk with, do things with. i miss having someone tell me i look good, and watching british movies at night with.

- so yeah, looking forward to the coming week!!!

my "job"

I love my job. i really do. i LOVE books. i love dealing with the NEW books. love it!!!

however...

i do NOT love when our library gets a grant to hire a college student...and THEY take over all of our hours!

i do NOT love when the average wage in this library system for MY job...is $5 more than what i make per hour.

SO....many times while having this "job" ...i have considered it more of a hobby. this is one of those times. it is frustrating. i want to say something...stick up for myself, and coworkers...but really what can i do.

soccer begins...

two months of soccer 4 days per week...supper gets thrown out the door, we play a lot in rain, injuries, cramps, frustrations...but we love it!!

Pete is coaching Tessa's junior high lime green team...and also Ayden's irish green team. they have substitutes right now of course...

I love watching soccer, and am getting better at coming out of my shell and actually cheering. although i will never be one of those LOUD obnoxious and slightly rude parents.

Tessa started last night and she did a great job! she has always dug in and never been afraid of the bigger kids...

The new fields are not ready yet. we are HOPING that we can use them in June, because quite frankly...they are impressive.

now if only we can make the weather cooperate!!!!
