Allergies Test

Yesterday Tessa and I went to Calgary to have our allergies tested.  Tessa has the worst seasonal allergies!  Mine are bad too, but I don't' seem to have as many symptoms...at least so far this season.

So- we had our forearms poked a lot, and serums from different allergens.  Our arms swelled up in many places, turned bright red, and wow they were itchy!!!

AND...we are both pretty allergic to any type of grass, weeds, me- lots of trees....Tess- a few.  Animals: I knew already i was allergic to cats, dogs, horses.  But Tess found out she is allergic to a cow.  teeehee!!!  that makes me laugh.
I found that i am also allergic to molds.  It is why i get symptoms all year round...lots of times in the winter!
Air conditioning would help i think.  We keep thinking we're going to get it, and then we put it off till the next year.  so yeah- maybe next year!

So now we have to do the neti-pot religiously, some nose sprays, and go back in the fall to see if it's improved.  If not, we will look into shots for Tessa.  it is quite the process, but it is like she has a bad cold for months!  Definitely not fun.

things past

this time of year can be fairly crazy.  there are so many things on the calendar!  just life.
what's going on...

-dad's been busy with soccer, and work.  he has been doing yard work as much as possible.  he loves trees.  i wouldn't call him a tree hugger, but he seriously loves trees.

-mom doing the usual- work, home-work, pilates, reading, cooking.  experimenting with eating sans gluten, sugar, anything processed.

-ben- work, friends.  ben is funny.  he treats sundays like a fast sunday every where.  but not from food- from electronics.  we take a day off on sunday, and it seems hard for him sometimes.  it's just a different world than when us oldies grew up.

-tess- enjoying soccer, taking tests, studying, reading.  she is finishing up this year of piano lessons, and i would say at a level 6.  she is very good!

-Adon- talks about longboards a lot.  liked the avengers.  wishes for money.  always helpful, funny, and happy.  busy with soccer also, and is in the last Cardston grade 6 elementary class ever!!

i hate to brag, but we really have the greatest kids.  they are self-sufficient, mature, smart, and hilarious.  all of them.  i don't' know what we did to deserve such a great little family- but we are very grateful.  too bad it's going so fast!  i could use a few more years with everyone just here around me.

a painful lesson

We went to Banff, and left on a sunday.  so from sunday- thursday i didn't do any pilates.  on the thursday i had such a throbbing headache i STILL couldn't do any pilates.  by the end of the week, as well as the whole time at Banff, i was in a fairly moderate degree of back pain.  granted- we did walk around a LOT, and that was new.  but chances are my hip was out a bit which would have exacerbated  the pain by a huge amount.
sooooo...the question is...how do i do pilates twice a day for the rest of my life?  holidays?  sick days?  hotel rooms?  camping?  i just don't know.  i DO know it has to be done.
sigh.
it brought up a huge question mark for Moroni's Quest.  it pretty much decided for me that i wouldn't be able to go.  i wouldn't end up being too useful.  too bad it wasn't just one night, and it could be done!  3 is just too much.
this is sad to me.  we practice the song every week with the young men, and it is such a powerful song, i always think "i can do it!!"  and feel very good about everything.
oh well, i am just grateful my kids have the opportunity.  that is what is truly important.  if it can be a great testimony builder at this age, that is the best thing!  so so important.  it would truly be hard to be true to yourself and get through this crazy life, without a strong testimony.

so anyhow-
wow, this post started off with one topic and totally changed!  alas!  the airheaded-ness comes out!

Banff Getaway

Sunday we took Tessa and Ayden on a mini-escape to Banff.  We are not too proud to admit that we wouldn't have gone if it hadn't been free-  Pete had an ASBOA conference at the Banff Springs Hotel.  Ben didn't really want to come and miss school so he stayed.  (going to Edmonton today with Pete so he's good)
We had fun running around the castle, taking pictures...swimming...shopping...eating.  It was a good few days!  What a fun place to stay too.  Glad we got the chance to go there- we may never get back.  It's a bit pricey!
The kids got to go on the Gondola's.  It was either that, or the Avengers...and nobody was really up for a movie.  So they went- and I stayed and read a book.

magnet boards

our class activity yesterday for mia maids was to make these make-up magnet boards.
they didn't have to be for make-up, it's just how i saw them made...so i went with it.  we used sheet metal pieces...my father in law got them cut in lethy for me...so nice of him!
then they had to choose a frame, fabric, and what colour of spray paint to use.  the pill bottles made great holders for some things!

 yes, even eyelash curlers Tessa!
