this n that

well- here's what's up.

last thursday, Pete and I went down to Kalispell. we went to the movie "Hugo"...which i liked cause i had read the book. good story! he thought it was slow. slow is good.

we tried Walmart at 10pm. BIG MISTAKE. horrible!!! good thing we had no big ticket items in mind, so we grabbed a couple things...literally, and were the first in line and left shortly after. won't be doing THAT again.

next day we shopped for 8 hours. it was tiring- it was painful- it was sad. Jo-anne's was about the worst i saw for line-ups. i had a list for Joanne's. but i left. so sad.

we got lots done!!! thank goodness because Chritmas is COMING SO FLIPPEN FAST!!!!!

we have had crazy wind lately. hurricane force. really. it has done some major damage, and was fuelling some pretty wild grass fires a couple days ago...two houses on the reserve burnt right down. sad.

this week is pretty crazy for me. i work every day- have things on each night other than one. and on that one night, i need to be sewing. i have 7 aprons to make- and want them done by next weekend. monday i have shots- so that puts me out for that day. hopefully work will slow down. if it doesn't, i will have to talk to the boss. and it's not just going to work- but it's making cinnamon buns, writing a newspaper article, updating websites- at home- but it all piles up sometimes.

nothing much super-new. yesterday Ben at the most calories in his bio class at subway. 2700 or something. how you may ask? i think mostly through the sauces!!!! no sauce for me in the future. jeepers! and this was AFTER he had eaten a big lunch which included 2 sandwiches, apple, cinnamon bun, and lasagna at a friends. let's just say he wasn't feeling too well the rest of the day.

Tessa is still studying for her learner's. i think she is ready! but she doesn't feel it yet- i think it will be soon.

Ayden is reading like nuts. i love it!!! there is no obsession I can appreciate more in life. i only wish i had more time for reading! i try to listen to audiobooks whilst i sew- but really- it's just not the same.

well, that's it for us and november.

apron trial and error

bleh. well, i got in to the Remington Craft fair last weekend. i was looking forward to it, and spent so much time and energy getting ready for it. lost sleep, crappy eating-

basically- it was a bomb. i sold some aprons for the first few hours- and then DEAD. the craft show just died!!! at first i thought it was just me- but there was just no action for anyone. it was so strange!

so here is what i learned

-craft shows in cardston do NOT work

-mormons are cheap

-they just want "ideas" (i actually had a girl in my ward and her family discussing how they were going to recreate one of my aprons when they got home...yeah thanks)

-some things are not worth stressing over.

-i would rather be an anonymous seller, then have to discuss things in great detail with people. (i don't like being quizzed on whether or not people even WEAR aprons...i am not forcing them down anyone's throat!)

sooo...basically...i am bummed. what now? i don't want this experience to ruin my hobby...or the fun i had making these. people suggest Etsy. maybe...all i know right now- is i have lots of Christmas presents available!

WHAT? november...really?

K...this means Christmas is less than 2 months away. CRAZY.

the weather has been okay...we've had snow a couple times- just a bit. wind warning again for today. i hate wind.

Tessa bought herself a new iPod with some of her earnings. her bank account is racking right up! she likes her job- and she is lucky to have it!

Ben bought himself an electric guitar. he is babying it- and hasn't even really played it yet. OKAY...he's waiting for an amp...but still...

Ayden has started scouts. he is reading Mockingjay right now. he's also been reading TONS of book of mormon. he has bought nothing- because he has NO MONEY.

Pete and I are just doing the usual. work, home, work, home.

We got a freezer given to us for free. it is in good shape but OLD. like retro- old. we shall see how it affects our monthly electric bills. if it's too much, we'll have to get a new one.

we are looking into getting a 3rd vehicle now that Ben is driving. i suppose it's not a necessity- but it would be more convenient.

in about 23 days Pete and I are going Christmas shopping ...black friday in Kalispel. excited!!!

well...off to have lunch, and start working on an angry birds apron. i love days off!!!!
