New Calling, and a complaint...

So today I got called to be the YW's first counseller.  woot woot!  I'm very excited.  I've been in young women's just under a year and was really loving it when the bishop said he wanted to talk to me today ...
so I (sweat sweat) nervously went in thinking I would get put in playing the piano someplace...but NO, it was my lucky day!  I'm happy that I'm staying and specifically in the mia maid age group...

And now for the complaint....
Cardston 3rd ward is seriously the noisiest ward ever.  I have 3 kids and totally GET the baby thing, and toddler thing...but the difference now seems to be that people just DON"T take their kids out into the hall!!!
As if I wanted my back massaged by a vibrating pew for 20 minutes today.  After the nausea left, I tried to focus on the talks with a screaming kid in one ear, and a laughing one in the other.
As if the mother has to tell them a play by play of what is going on in an OUT LOUD voice.  have you heard of whispering?
As if the father had to pound on one kid's back while the kid was saying "aaaahhhhhh" over and over and think that was hilarious.
As if we needed toy cars zooming around on the radiator...and then on the back of our bench...complete with LOUD sound effects.
As if during the sacrament, you can't put your hand over a kid's mouth and haul him out the door when he starts yelling.
As if when you first walk in to sacrament meeting, it's as if you're at a party...
As if I needed a WORSE headache by having one of the adults sing as loud as was humanly possible in my ear during the hymns.  what is the point!?  were we having a singing contest?
I just dont' get it.  If ever I had a screaming or even wimpering- slightly kid...I got them OUT of there...that just doesn't happen in our ward...it is a total free-for all.
I love my ward, don't get me wrong, and am not trying to be too judgemental.  I've been there and done that and little kids in sacrament doesn't always work as you want it to, but whatever happened to taking the problem out...and trying to leave a little peace.
Sigh...question of the day.

Ayden's day...

Today Ayden and I went to Waterton...
It was Ayden's day to spend with me, and he chose going to Waterton and riding the bikes. SO, off we went! We had a fun time...we got ice cream at the "Big Scoop" and we walked around. On the way home we even saw a bear, so it was a great day.

And here is a shot of the carrot cake that Pete made today. Have I ever made carrot cake? I dont' know, I think I tried it ONCE...pathetic. But he did a great job and it was delicious. and it was appreciated even more because he grated 3 cups of baby carrots. hehe

Beazer...

We spent the afternoon in Beazer at the river the other day. We walked up the river a ways, and then back...then a little swimming. Such a pretty and relaxing place.

Old Friends...

I have to say that I have a lot of respect for old friends that WANT to keep in touch. I think it's fantastic. So many others seem to fall off the face of the earth!!!

Today Pete had an old buddy and his wife stop by...he has always made an effort to stop in and see Peter. I think it's GREAT, and I know Pete appriciates it too! Hopefully we can stay in touch with them better.

I have a couple friends that I grew up with that actually call or stop by when they're in the area, and I find that amazing. The ones that want to stay in touch- they are the good ones. That goes for family too...

Favorites...

My favorite workouts since about March of this year are ..."Jillian Micheal's 30-day shred" and any of the other biggest loser workouts like the "bootcamp".
They are circuit workouts...weights, cardio, lots of toning. They really really KICK your butt...and as you go, you keep working out your hardest so they never get easy.
I can't say enough about how much I've like them. They are easy to mix and match...and some of them are only 20 minutes. Everyone has 20 minutes in a day don't they?
They're GREAT...I never thought I'd be able to do "man" push-ups in my lifetime!

3 years

This pictures from 3 years ago says a few things...

1. Tessa is terrified of huge scary-antennae-Waterton bugs...(which hopped on her shoulder right after this photo and chaos ensued for a few minutes)
2. My kids are cute, and somewhat grumpy...unless they get ice cream in Waterton
3. Nothing whatsoever is going on right now, so I have to play around with older pictures...

So we just got back from a quick Banff/Sheraton/Zoo trip. Just an overnighter, lots of swimming, animals and some school shopping...it was nice to get away.

survival...

A random rainbow by our house....

This week I survived girl's camp. and not only did I survive it, I liked it a lot. Not much for sleeping on the floor with mice and spiders...but we at least had flushable toilets showers, and a kitchen. So, I can't complain.
The best part for me about camp was being with the young women...they are fantastic...and we have a GREAT GROUP of them...
Where I slept for 3 nights...right where the red bag is...

We went to the Elkwater area south of Medicine Hat...quite pretty!

The girls were always entertaining themselves...and us!

This is a picture from today...it's my grandma Baker's 88th BDay!!! wow. We had a party in Barnwell for her...it turned out great!
