2 things.

here is a letter idea we did today.  we wrote our letters on the shirts and ties, and Tessa origami-d them up!  i am TRYING to send something to Ben each week or two, so that he has something to physically open.  it is hard to think up things to say, since you say all you want sunday night!
and this?  well, i just like this.

Cardboard Boat Races!

i forgot, there actually was something really fun this week!  Ayden and 3 other boys made up a team that made a cardboard boat.  they went to the U of L on thursday to MAKE the boat, test it, and race it.  they did very well, and had a fun day!  i believe there were 50 teams from other junior high and high schools.  fun day!!!

missionary stuff...

at the top we've got a tree that we're mailing to Ben to tape up on his wall.  i really don't know if missionaries are allowed real trees, but i highly doubt it.  so this will have to do!  notice the ornaments are family members.  if you did NOT give the okay for me to take your picture, or if you were NOT at Wright's for thanksgiving- i may have grabbed a picture of you off of facebook.  i didn't have time to wait around for pics, so i did what i had to do.  this tree is going out tomorrow along with a Batman flannel pillowcase.  I want Ben to open this package up the beginning of december- IF he gets it by then!!!
other things...we seem to have  a cupboard full of stuff related to Ben.  and you will notice the clock in London time as well.  i STILL find myself moving ahead 7 hours all the time- and i often forget to look at the clock!
-this week we had a birthday (me) and elections.  same day.

Suggestion

If, and I mean...IF...anyone out there would like to send a little something to ben for Christmas...first of all, I know it would be hugely appreciated...and I remembered last night to use this
http://www.amazon.co.uk
That is how I'm shopping for him.  You can pretty much get anything...literally...and it is so cheap to send!!!!  I plan on sending him a couple smallish things....but anything else will come from there.  It can be gift wrapped as well.  Don't forget to use his mission home address!!!!

email Oct. 14

So let me tell y'all bout this week.  It has been alright.  We have spent a lot of time travelling, but we don't have much to show for it.  It's hard to get people to listen in the winter because they only go outside if they are going somewhere.  Ah well.  We have one investigator, but we don't see her again for a week and a half :(  Oh well.  We just have to find more.  My diet has turned to crap by the way.  I'm still feeling healthy, getting my food groups, but I need to eat a little better.  Me and Elder Davies still get along! Hooray! haha We found out our neighbors are partiers, so thats always fun before bed, listening to them.  Also, I met, and bore testimony to the ward!  There's about 30 people like I said, and the bishop says we might get callings soon.  One of us will be Elders Quorum Prez and the other YM President.  I'm praying for YM President haha.  Let me tell you about two things that happened this week.
1) We have this awesome Zambian lady in our ward and she fed us Shima.  Look it up, it's like mashed maize.  So that was interesting.  She's the best, her kids are absolutely insane, and I think she's cutting my hair today because she told me not to go get a haircut and she has a surprise for me...
2)  We had an appointment with a Chinese girl named Lucy.  She took Bible theology classes and she's an Evangelical Born Again Christian.  She has also been told by the Holy Spirit that the Book of Mormon isn't true *Eye roll* so that was a headache.  She basically tries to convert us because she is concerned for our salvation.  It's heartbreaking because she is so cool, but she's so lost :/  She gave us lots of apostate literature so we burned it, which was quite fun.  Later that day (Friday)  We got off the tube at Collier's Wood and a guy approached us and asked us to come by his home for 20 minutes.  On the way there, he guessed I was from Alberta when I mentioned Canada and he guessed my companions hometown.  That was when we felt super creeped out.  When we got there, there were 7 people gathered for a Bible Study session.  They were all extremely nice.  They asked if we wanted to study the Book of Mormon or John, and then before we could answer it turned into a bash session!  Basically one person would ask a question and before we could answer someone else would ask a question!  At one point they said they don't even consider us to be Christian!  I should mention they were very extreme orthodox Anglicans.  Anyways, that was interesting, and we have a return appointment with the guy we met at the tube.  He's taking us to lunch so who knows how that'll go.
3)We did exchanges.  I had to be senior companion to another Greenie!  It was the guy who's like Mckay Smith but we had a good time.  Got a little lost, but it's good to see what it's like being top dog ;)
Ok and now for things I wrote down to mention quick
School Uniforms- I hate school uniforms, but that's all they have here.  Ugh, I hate 3:00 on London buses with school kids.

Overused Phrases-  Everyone here says "Oh my days" non-stop.  It makes me cringe every time for some reason.

Flirty Text-  Ok this is a weird one.  Basically I gave a card with out number on it to a girl on the bus, and late that night we got a text that basically said "You gave me your number on the bus earlier.  You know if you wanted my number, you could've just asked ;) x " So we did the only rational thing.  We tried to set up an appointment with her!  We've had no luck contacting her, but hey, it's still funny haha.  Man it's hard being so attractive...

Beans on Toast-  You guys need to have beans on toast!  It's so good!

Cyclists- Lots of people bike around here, and they are so rank!  It's insane how good the bikers are here!

Hobbit-  If anyone could find it in their heart to dropbox us the hobbit soundtrack we'd love you  forever.  It would be a great addition to LOTR and the Prince of Egypt.

Placed B.O.M.-  Basically I gave out my first Book of Mormon.  I taught a uni student the whole restoration on a bus and he actually asked where he could get a book of mormon.  Needless to say, that felt really good

Anyways, that's it, I'm doing good, hopefully you guys are doing great!  Love you all and stay classy
Elder Wright

(and a bit more from my own email)
Anyways... I'll send pics of the flat, after I'm out of it ;) jk we actually have one of the nicer flats, but it still just feels crappy y'know?  I haven't even missed my phone or ipod, so that's been good.  We have a phone, but it's garbage.  SOunds pretty exciting in Cardston!  Woot woot!  At least you're not in crazy city ;)
Typical day... hmm...
Study
Study
Walk
Tube
Walk
Knock Door
No answer
Try to talk to people
Rejection
Go home
Eat
Sleep
I'm kidding obviously but I can't really give an outline because every day is different.  I do like my companion, he's a good guy.  Our flat has a living room, bedroom, ironing room, bathroom, and a tiny kitchen, so it's alright.  I don't love our flat though.  It's kind of just a typical London flat.  I have seen a truck with a red tardis on it, but other than that I haven't seen a single Dr. Who related thing, although I'm sure in a few weeks I'll see adverts everywhere!  Our ward is great!  Small, but I love everyone!  We have dinner appointments almost every day (thank goodness) and I haven't had anything too bad yet.

(So- i decided i needed to put at least some of his emails on this blog, so that when i print it all out, i will have some.  got this email this morning and i have to say, it kind of gives me the creeps.  the whole set-up with the guy on the street, and the bashing....very creepy!  it worries me, i hope Ben stays safe.  yikes...but at the same time, sounds like he is enjoying his ward and eating.  it will be strange to suddenly be an EQ pres, OR a YM pres.  sheesh!  talk about prep for the future!  i really wish i had new pictures to see today, but i imagine they are quite too busy to take pics.  oh well, someday maybe.  i already dropboxed the hobbit music first thing this morning.  i dont' know if they'll get it today, but maybe.  he told me they email from the chapel...so i'm not sure how that all works.  i am very happy for the updates.  but i wish they were 10 times as long with tons more detail!  i suppose i will get used to it though...)

Torture...

today i had torture number....uh, i dunno.  i had my last torture a year ago.  it worked well for me- but looks like i maybe have to have booster shots.  maybe.  we shall see how i do with this set.  i like having an LDS doctor.  he tries to distract me by talking about missions, his kids, moroni's quest..etc.  but seriously, those hurt.
OWIE!
the BEST part about today, was hearing from Ben!!!!!  most of his mail is on elderbwright.blogspot.ca
if you are reading this and cannot access his blog, and want to- let me know.
it was so fun to get PICTURES!!!  they made me realize that he was actually THERE!!!  and we got some good detail.  BUT- next up, we need to hear about where he is and what his flat is like, and what his comp is like.  etc.
here are a few pics, but like i said the rest will be on his blog...eventually.

holy quotes batman!

yesterday on facebook, there were so many of these!  and they were put up before the talks were even done.  i'm sure it's the same today.  so many good quotes!

and it was nice to watch the priesthood meeting last night.  the women who think they want the priesthood:  they don't understand the gospel.  they don't seem to understand that they are NOT following the prophet and therefore why would the want the priesthood if they cannot respect it first?!!  : also, why do they think they're such feminists?  WHY is calling yourself a feminist mean you want to be a man?  or exactly LIKE a man?  i have never understood this one.  while i feel totally EQUAL to Pete, i know at the same time, that we are not the same.  if you're a feminist, and rejoicing in your feminism- then you should be thrilled with the feminine gifts you have been given.  but no, people always want what they don't have.
: i don't get how trying to get in to the priesthood meeting was going to make God change his mind on this one.  ridiculous.  they are silly.  they think they are trying to free all of us other poor women i suppose.  sadly, if they keep it up, they will soon be ex-lds feminists.

big week!

i dont' know if it's a big week, so much as a big day tomorrow.  why?  we FINALLY get to hear from Ben!!!  and not a quick rushed note letting us know he is alive (which were great too) but hopefully some detail.  and i'd kill for a picture or two!!!  i wish myself luck sleeping tonight, i feel like it's Christmas Eve!!!

tomorrow also- i'm getting shots.  i haven't had them for a year, and am holding out hope that they will give me some pain relief.  ouch, not looking forward to the actual shots- but it will be worth it.

also this week is Petes birthday.  it is a wednesday, and the kids have mutual- so not too sure what we'll be doing.

conference is amazing.  how great it is to watch something for hours that reminds you to have a good perspective on life.  i can't even imagine not having these truths or thoughts always in my head.  where would i be???

can't believe we are into October.  crazy!  the weather is cooler (yay) and we are enjoying that.

Tessa is taking her driver's test this week.  she is a good driver- she drove me around Leth a week or so ago, and did great!  she has good instincts.  i'm sure she will pass.

and that's about it- more tomorrow!!!

the one picture...

this is the ONE picture we've seen of Ben- proof that he actually is in England and has been at the Preston MTC.  thanks to the MTC pres- for emailing this picture out.  we are desperately HOPING that once Ben is settled, he will send us tons of pictures.  wishful thinking?
right now as i type, Ben is SOMEWHERE in south England.  and he is with SOMEONE- his first companion and trainer.  he left at 6:30 (his time) this morning...to take a 5 hours bus ride to a train station where he had an interview, and off he went to his first place!!!
it is absolutely CRAZY not knowing where he is or what is going on.  i was so hoping to hear a sentence or two today!!  but i guess pday is likely monday- so hopefully we will get a HUGE update.  and hopefully all the news will be GREAT!!!  ugh, the anticipation...
