Ben's letter from last week.
Eh there ya hoser,
Yeah the week has been good! Sister Fowler is too kind, it wasn't that wonderful haha. I gave the talk on baptism before she was baptized. It was scary, because most of the people there weren't LDS, so the pressure was on to throw in some bits of Restored truth. And someone was videoing some of it hahaha. But I guess it was okay, I told the story of Limhi and his people in bondage, talked about authority, Roman 6:3-8 (I think) so it was alright! Yeah, I am really happy about it! Shujie is so awesome, and so humble as well. She sent me an email today, and it is so cool to see how much of an influence we can play in others lives if we just let God work through us. Speaking of which, President Millar just called, which doesn't happen very often, to congratulate us on how things are going in this area. I think he's pleased to see how things are going in this mission as we had one of the highest baptizing weeks in 2 years! Don't take this as boasting, I am just stating the facts haha ;)
We went to the Horniman museum, which was kinda cool. There was a vast garden where they grew dyes and such, an Animal section, African section, Weird stuff section, and a music section. I loved the music area, there were 900+ different instruments in there!!!
1) We had a kebab(tism) Saturday! :D

3) Man, I just like my vans shoes... But as a missionary, I like wearing... Well I couldn't really pick a specific white shirt I guess... I like all my trousers and suits... And my jacket is pretty nice... But in the end, what gets me through the day, every day, are my slip on Ecco shoes. May their days be long, and their soles be eternal.
4) I only wear suits to church, district meetings, or anywhere that President Millar will be.
I have never been to a fair, but it looks cool! Hopefully it is fun.
Well the woman who contacted us online came to Pam's baptism. Other than that, no new updates. She accepted a date for April 12th, so hopefully she can do it.
We are still teaching the south American family, and I don't know their last names... Let's call them Susan and Family. We missed them this week though due to work schedules. Sorry about the weather. If it makes you feel better, it is cold here again.
Thanks for the music, I'll check it out. The posters made it look like Tangled, so I'm sure it will be great haha. And is the other album the Book Thief? The one with Emily (not Emma) Watson? I saw a poster for Noah yesterday. Looks awesome!
Well, he actually only has about 4 weeks left now. Yeah, he is getting trunky, but that's okay, it's to be expected that close to the end. If I did get a greenie next, that would mean I will be here until July or August. That would be almost half my mission in London! :D It's crazy, because some missionaries never make it into London, and so I feel very lucky. Makes me wonder what I did right.
I mean tortilla's and the spices. It is more expensive than it should be here. We can buy hamburger here. I haven't ever thus far, but they do have all kinds of meat here. I saw a goat head in a Turkish shop last week. My companion said he wants to boil it. I'm worried he is more serious about it than I thought haha.
Crazy thing the other day! I was standing in the rain, but Elder Pond a few feet away was dry! It rained in one spot! Woahhhhh!
Also, I am developing my talents out here! I have been learning to play the conch shell in our flat. This morning I attempted the Rocky theme!
So, can anyone suggest ways to spice up oatmeal? I tried it this week, and it was pretty lame... But it makes a cheap breakfast. Ask everyone, someone must know a way!

Yeah it was a very nice service! Shujie actually met some Sisters on a bus on the North side of the Thames right after she had picked up a brochure or leaflet or something about Christianity. So she saw that as a sign, and gave them her number. So we called her straghtaway, and so we did teach her from the beginning. And seriously, from the very beginning since she had no understanding or conception of God at all. So, that is how it all began. I taught her the first 3 lessons I think before I left, and she actually gave up for a bit before she got baptized, but she pulled through.
Haha, yeah, the talk wasn't that great. There were more of Pam's Jamaican Born-Again family at the baptism than members, so the baptism had a different atmosphere to say the least, but it was good. It was the first baptism I've been too where the refreshments have involved things like Fried chicken, lasagna, and prawns! We have had a good week, yeah. Right now we have 10 investigators, which is ridiculously awesome! We met 8 of them in the same day!

i've decided i really don't want to go into detail. a quick summary will do.
december...toothache...
january...antibiotics, toothache, waiting for specialist.
february...more antibiotics, more waiting. trip to hospital. sick ALL MONTH. horrible. end of month, finally treated by specialist. extremely stressful terrible time.
march...tooth still sore, but slowly settling. trying to deal with side effects of things that began with antibiotics. not a fun month. again. end of month, realizing my new wisdom tooth will have to pop out. soon.
and that's about it folks. seems like months of drudgery, sickness, crazy weird and new things that are not good. the stress levels are through the roof. it has been bad.
one thing i'm grateful for is my family. they care, they want to help. Pete has been kind, understand, and is always available for a blessing.

(realizing i haven't blogged lately, here is Ben's letter from this morning. it's a good one...seems a bit more upbeat than the last couple) ((my greeting to Ben was 'ello 'guv'na))
Eh Mom
You gonna greet me all British, I better greet you in a Canadian way eh? Our pday last week was successful! Boring, but successful! A waistcoat is more like a vest, like they wore in the olden days. It won't be too good until the weather warms up a little. Speaking of which, this week was really sunny! We spent a lot of time in Crystal Palace park talking to everyone who dared roam those grounds.
I do still write down interesting points, but they are fewer and therefore I kind of just write them in without setting them apart specifically.
Y'know, sometimes we find cool new people to teach and then they fall off the radar. We still really just have Pam and Milli, other than that no one is really progressing.
1) I use pounds only. From what I hear, Euros are not doing too good in the economy. Pound notes are weird, they are different sizes based on their value. More value = bigger bill.
2) We play soccer every so often, but when we can we try to do touristy things because... Well, we are in London.
3) Sometimes it can rain 7 days a week here. You can always count on the rain coming though.
4) Wake up at 6 (i asked him about a typical sunday)
Go to ward council at 8
Set up church at 9
Attend meetings at 10
Correct dodgy teaching throughout the meetings
Usually we stick around until 2 and get home to drop stuff off at 3
Then we work until 5:30 when the YSA usually have us over for dinner
Then we work after dinner until 8 when we have to call in and report the week.
5) Last wednesday was the day after zone conference, so we were pretty pumped up. So we spent the WHOLE DAY in Crystal Palace park and talked to every living soul there. It was great. I had muesli for breakfast today that a member gave us. It was different. We broke our fast yesterday with the HOTTEST most African rice ever! It was painful, but we got through. (i asked what he did last wednesday)
6) Being able to go to the Park and have less noise there and see some green and hear some birds that aren't pidgeons. I also just like being in London and seeing ridiculous stuff daily. (favorite thing about current area)
7) We get fed a few times a week, but mostly people just bring us food to church because there's confusion on the whole matter of whether certain single sisters can feed us or not and it's all just kinda confusing. We eat alot of spicy rice! A LOT! There is also foo foo, peanut soup, jalof rice, plantains (I no like plantains) Speaking of plantains, I like bananas now. Cheese still puts me off in case you were wondering.
8) Okay, you could get up at 6:30 every morning and go to bed at 10:30 like I do! That would be fun, wouldn't it >:D (asked him to give us a challenge)
Or, you could simply just read from both the New Testament and the BOM on the daily
Or, read a psalm/proverb a day, that can be fun!
Or go to park place mall and hand out 10 pass along cards >:D

I was by a bridge that is in Harry Potter? Which on is that? I like bridges by the way, so I hope I didn't bore you with bridges.

Tenille going to Toronto! Cool beans. Good to hear Ben is well, I'm sure he is loving it in Cali. Hopefully he doesn't sink into the ocean with it. Anyone married yet? ;)
I know there is a new film. My companion saw it when I was with the AP. If only the Temple was open on Mondays.
I'm good as far as supplies go, thanks though!
Yeah, my cooking is getting better! I can make a mean stir fry, and I even remembered to turn the oven off after I made pizza the other day! (Joking of course)
Yeah, the Psalm of Nephi is awesome! There is one verse I still ponder over, but I don't remember it right now :S I read a Psalm before my study every day. I love 'em!
I was told this week by someone on the street that anyone who associates Canada with America should be shot O.O haha, I love people.
I was also told Mormon's hate having their picture taken. I promptly showed this person my driver's license.
It's weird when people complain about our accent here.
Man, chavs and chavettes are hilarious! The best thing is they dance and stuff at bus stops or on the street, but if they catch you watching, they give the glare and then start back up within a minute. I love london.
I had an interesting thought this week. Someone asked for names to pray for at a certain time, and I picked some people. It was interesting to think about who I really feel needs prayer right now.
