really? as soon as the speaker in church today said "i will now read from the book ""visions of glory""..." he lost me. i quit listening.
if you are not going to quote an apostle, prophet, or other legit church leader...just stop. how do people not know this!!
visions of glory. sigh. i wanted to like it when i read it. there were such weird parts...i came to the conclusion that it was a little "off". interesting parts, and things i can agree with. but i do not agree with stating how the end of the world will take place, and HOW Jesus will be reigning here. what he will do, how he will act. that is no good, and slightly alarming!!!! plus, he the author put himself in a fairly high important placing next to Jesus Himself. uh...that is weird. do not tell your wife she is going to die in an earthquake in Utah. do not tell us all the strange location of a group of people. IF you indeed had these visions, and believe them to be real that's cool. if they are sacred, keep them to yourself. sacred should not be shared- and should not be paid for.
okay, so at it's best- visions of glory is mildly interesting. and at it's worst- it's priestcraft. if people wanna read it, go ahead. do NOT add it to your scriptures and for heaven's sake do NOT quote from it in your sacrament meeting talk!!!!!!

movies
well- it's summer. so therefore it's movie-watching season.
this week we saw 3 good ones, and 1 terrible one.
good ones!
1) war of the worlds (1952)
2) secret life of walter mitty (great music)
3) saving mr. Banks. very well done, and not boring like the cover suggests!!
terrible one:
I, Frankenstein. i mean come on. they HAD to be embarrassed when they watched the final cut. oh well, it was good for a laugh or two.

schtuff
another stellar letter from Ben this week. we are so happy with how- well- HAPPY he is! he sent a video...just short...driving on some windy treed lane, and he's humming a tune and it just made us all happy. i know i personally listened to it many many times on monday. and it was also our opening song for family home evening. he wrote a great letter...and some good pictures came through. i will put a few of those on here.
NOW. about Tessa. i will try to snag some pictures of her when she is least expecting it. she is done grade 11!! wow. one more year!! she is excited for grade 12 as she will be going to Vietnam. crazy! she did so well in school this year. we have yet to see all final grades, but she is a straight A student. so her work hours will pick up now for the summer. and she is going to enjoy some downtime with NO studying! she is also battling allergies which aren't great right now.
my pet peeve of the week is this. someone asks you what is wrong. you tell them, and they respond with this "well, i am sure glad that is not wrong with ME!" uh, okay. i'm not sure how that is helpful, so thanks. i don't know why, but i've had that happen more than once this week!! new plan, not to tell anyone that anything is wrong. it will be hard, but it CAN be done. i don't actually ever say too much. i would say MOST don't know that anything is ever even wrong! i think. and besides, it gets old talking about it.
the water is drying up and so we all know what that means- the mosquito invasion is on it's way!! yeesh, it's gonna be UGLY this year. UGLY!!!!!!
anywho. here are a few pics of Benny Boy

a lot of soccer!
there will be a lot of pictures. because Ayden is so awesome, i couldn't leave too many out! he had a great season...is a good ball handler and overall a great player. he loves it, and so it's very fun to watch. coach Pete also had a lot of fun.
he got a certificate, a tshirt, and a jacket for being part of the Junior Coaching Academy. he put in 50 hours of his own time helping out the soccer club!!
spectators.
Ayden and Taylor
ayden is just to the right here. he had to dress up when he coached his last day of kindergarten. then i think they had to try to catch him.

Ayden, Ayden, and water
so Ayden was in the grade 8 triathalon the other day. he rode his bike, and did archery. and...he WON!! he hopped on his bike and beat everyone, and so he and his partner Taylor won!! he also got an academic award at school yesterday. he got 100% on his math final as well. yup, he's pretty much AWESOME!!
we had a big ol' puddle in the back yard thanks to our recent June flood.
