fishing booth frivolity

well, the other day we had our first ever carnival at the library.  it was meant to kick off the children's summer reading program.  as we were setting up we were worried that we wouldn't get a good turnout.  we were HOPING for 80, but most people thought we would probably get half that many.  the SECOND it started, we had lineups!!!  it was insane.  over 700 people walked through the door that day, and most were during the carnvial.  we guessed at over 300 kids.  now- our library is a really good size, and nicely set up- but holy helmuts, it was congested!!!  so so packed.  Donna asked Ayden to come help me man the fishing booth and thank goodness!  for two hours straight we worked hard and didn't get one second between kids.  it was crazy there.  we borrowed games from the remmington center, so there were some fun carnival games there.  and the whole floor was absolutely covered in popcorn!  which Tessa ended up vacuuming
our garden is doing okay.  it got a little beat up from some hail and now some stupid wind...but it's moving along for the most part.  the potatoes are HUGE
love these Lilys!  i am sure they are making me sneeze, but oh well.  pop some more benedryl.
Pete is on "holiday" now so he has a project going.  i have lots of projects for him to do- but he has chosen this one.  Ayden's been helping him.

a few ipad pics

sometimes i forget that there are pictures on my ipad...so i grabbed a few off there to add to the blog.
here we have a  truly pitiful pathetic sight.  books and more books.  i get so many books on a weekly basis and how many do i actually READ per week?  maybe one- if i am lucky.  i usually just take them all back without touching them.  ah, the curse of a librarian!  Tess has the same issues.  you should see her book lists, and pile in her room..
next we have a quick saturday pinterest project.  yup- these are silver-sprayed pepsi bottles.  cute i think!
the other night we had ANOTHER storm.  we've been having our share, as has all of alberta it seems.  this night the power was out for a couple hours.  so we entertained ourselves with the craziness of Ayden and Ben.  and candles.
and yet another downpour with hail.  the hail thing is freaking me out.  i certainly do not need a repeat of last year!

haircuts.  this is what cutting the hair of a guy taller than yourself looks like.  Ben has been working at the golf course in some crazy heat this week!  one day it was up to 35 degrees but with humidity made it to 40.  it was HORRIBLE and it made us crazy!  especially me.  i spent 5 hours trying to cool down the house to no avail.  oh well.  AC is overrated in this area of the world.
....and i got a haircut!!!  to say the least.  it was SUPPOSED to go down past my collar bones.  uh yeah, mental note to tell the hair dresser 4 inches longer than i really want it next time.  anyhow, i was a little...shocked...and disturbed.  NOT that i was super crazy about my dumb hair...i wore it twisted up every single day.  BUT it was a rather shocking change.  i think i am getting used to it ...a little.
Ayden just chillen on a summer day.
our garden is going GREAT!!!  pictures of that to come.  (i just cursed myself by writing this down and now it will hail baseball size)
Ayden went on a young men's camp.  it was 4 days and 3 nights.  he had fun- so he said.  although it looks like he tried to slit his wrists, and there is a big scar on one to prove it.
Ayden is also pretty bored in the summer.  he wishes for a job- but then he would just spend every penny.  Pete will be taking holidays soon, and they have decks to stain- shakes to stain- patio to build- and who knows.  I personally have lots of evil plans for them.  MWAAHAHAHAHAHA
This week Tessa starts the children's program at the library, and next week she is going on a girl's "camp".  i use the word camp lightly here- they are going watersliding and boating.  sheesh!  tough life.
I hope to run down to Bigfork/Kalispel for a couple days in betwixt all the working, and mission prep.  I also hope to plan a fishing trip or two with g-pa B.  for everyone but me anyways.  my back is not feeling fish-worthy.  that is another story for another day.
the end!
